The NYCSBUS Board of Directors met on June 26 at 12:30pm at NYC Public Schools's headquarters at 52 Chambers Street in New York City.
In attendance were Emma Vadehra (chair), Michael McClenathan, Heather Miller and Lori Podvesker. PV Anantharam was not in attendance. NYC Public Schools staff member Andrew McClintock and NYC Public Schools Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) Executive Director Glenn Risbrook and OPT Deputy Executive Director James Sarkis were also in attendance. CEO Matt Berlin also attended.
The chair called the meeting to order at 12:45 pm and noted that a quorum was present.
The board reviewed the minutes from its April 3, 2025 meeting. Those were posted in draft on the NYCSBUS website immediately after the meeting and sent to the board in their pre-meeting materials, with the CEO’s Report, on June 22. The board unanimously approved the minutes.
The board unanimously approved the appointment of CBiz Marks Paneth as its auditor following a review of materials sent about the engagement with the CEO’s Report and a discussion about the firm.
The board briefly entered executive session to discuss labor negotiations.
Following the executive session, the board unanimously approved a memorandum of agreement between NYCSBUS and the United Service Workers Union, IUJAT, Local 455 to cover its relationship between employees covered by that union and the the company for the period from September 2024 through August 2028.
The board then considered a company budget for fiscal year 2025-26. The budget, too, was detailed in the CEO’s report. After discussion the board unanimously approve
The board considered contracts presented in the CEO’s report and necessary for NYCSBUS operations for the FY 2025-26 fiscal year. After discussion about the contracts, the board unanimously approved them.
Finally, since board members had the opportunity to review the CEO’s Report between June 22 and the meeting, CEO was able to present just highlights from the Report.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:45pm.
